Thiess, John Holland win $300m Wheatstone contracts

John Holland and Thiess, have won $300 million more in contracts relating to Chevron's Wheatstone project.

Thiess has won a $60 million tunnelling contract, while John Holland has won a second Wheatstone contract - this time to build 12 permanent buildings for $240 million.

Queensland-based Thiess today announced it would build a 1.2km tunnelled shore crossing under the ocean, connecting two offshore gas reserves with the Ashburton North-based liquefied natural gas plant.

Thiess managing director Bruce Munro said the contract built on the company’s current work with the Gorgon LNG project.

“We’re delighted to be increasing our participation in the LNG industry,” Mr Munro said.

The micro-tunnel will be 2.5 metres in diameter to accommodate a 1.1 metre diameter pipeline that will deliver gas from the Wheatstone and Iago reserves.
